Not a wire, a tether to make seat clip captive.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Red wire to rear seat bottom???, John M, Tue, 14 Dec 2004 07:58:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 2000 model and there is a nylon cord which looks like a wire, but isn't. If one end connects to a nylon clip on the seat hinge pin, it is merely a tether which keeps the nylon seat retaining clip captive to the car if you remove the lower seat cushion.
Lift the rear seat cushion, snap the clip off the hinge pin, slide the seat cushion sideways, and you can remove the cushion from the hinge assembly/car. Might be useful when trying to fit a "slightly too tall", (or too heavy for the upholstery), item into the rear seat area.
