Perhaps your injectors are fouled. Cold start runs rich, but when warm, the mixture is normal and perhaps poor spray pattern is contributing to this. Use Techron Concentrate. If never used before, go for the 20 ounce bottle. Use smaller bottle every 8K or 3X/year.
And with any running problem, always pull and -read the plugs-, regap or replace.
The above two items are responsible for most problems of this nature.
If that does not help, with your years, the TB may be fouled and needing to be cleaned. If the motorized throttle plate is stucking or the deposits create some non linear air flow responses... Would be a good maitenance operation in any case. Use a carb or TB spray cleaner. Swab out what you can with a cloth to remove. Cleaners are degreasing. Suggest a drop of engine oil at each pivot. There is always some oil in the TB feed pipe, do not be alarmed by that if seen.
Deposits in the TB can be accelerated by increase blow-by gases. This can result from sticking piston rings. There are chemical treatments to free these up and Mobil 1 oils will avoid this and dyno oils will cause this. Some are oil flushes and some are additive types. Understand the differences and read the instructions with care. If the dip sticks were not such junk on these vehicles, one could be much more aware of minor changes in oil consumption. I have seen where detected oil consumtption suggested stuck rings and chemical treatment eliminate the indications of oil consumption.
