JUST BOUGHT 99 9-5 heater problem

I finally bought my own SAAB, raised with them most of my life. I bought a 99 9-5 and it's in great condition tad higher miles 137k (no biggie for a saab)but it has some things i'd like to fix. The drvers side heater and ac doesn't work but the passenger zone does, I know it's dual climate is this common for 9-5s? and how easy to fix I figure the flapper door isn't working and not flowing to the heater or ac because it still blows to speed. the other tid bit that gets me is that the brake light failure light keeps coming on randomly even though the lights work, The sterio was upgraded with aftermarket replacement rear deck speakers and amp, i wondered if when they pulled the radio out to hook the amp up they may have bumped wires or the heater box.. I don't know much about saabs yet but I work in a automotive machine shop and know my way around a car, so before i dig in I'd like some advice from more knowledgable saab gurus. my local saab dealer quoted a full interior removal and 2500 dollar heater box replacement....so i'd love to find another route to go! loving it so far though!
