Intermittent problem with TCS and SID reset

I am looking for any assistance with a series of problems that are occuring intermittently with my 2000 9-5. When starting the car, the SID goes through its normal startup and reports CHECK OK. When the key is turned to start the car, sometimes the TCS OFF light on the tach remains on after the car is started. I am not able to turn the TCS back on by pushing the TCS switch. In addition, the Mileage, Miles, and MPG readings are all reset on the SID. The time and date is not affected. Upon the next start, the same problem may or may not occur again. When this problem occurs, there is no problem driving the car - except there is no traction control - the wheels will spin. The antilock brakes, which I assumed would also be affected, do work in this condition.

When the car starts and the TCS OFF light is not on, I am able to use the TCS switch to turn the system on and off as I should.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
