Mike, I seriously considered the 9-3 Aero with parktronic thinking either one of us would drive it. I dragged my wife over to the SAAB dealer to test drive one but in the end she could not believe the price for the car relative to the 9-5 Aero and she really liked the 9-5 ride and quietness better. My wife really likes the 9-5 Aero and my goal is to get my car back, I am not sure I want to drive the 9-3.
The S-8 was what I almost bought back in 2002. It was a 2001 model year that I managed to get them to discount below $60K. I really liked the car but in the end the cost to insure, run (gas and garage visits) turned me away. I guess I will have to get out my comparison sheet to remind me why not an S8. By the way, the S8 or A6 would be mine and my wife could keep my 9-5 Aero.
I considered BMW but they are so bad in the snow and ice. Last year with really bad tires on the front I drove circles around them on my way home from a surprise snow storm in my 9000S. The next day I went to the store and put on snows and the car reaffirmed why I like it, it is a tank in bad weather.
I am considering waiting to see what the 9-7 looks like and what they will do as far as incentives for loyal owners.
The cost effective solution is fix the exhaust and wait.
