As I understand things, if it is warranty, then yes, they're supposed to give you a loaner, even if they have to rent it for you... as the tab for that use would ultimately go back to Saab.
What you get is up to dealer discretion. At my local dealer (Saab of Des Moines), when a Saab loaner's not available or can't be scheduled back in time, I've ended up with a Toyota Corolla or sometimes a Camry. Worst case, for warranty work the dealer's even had to have Enterprise pick me up and put me in whatever they had that day. If I've gone to the other dealer in my area (Meyer Saab/Iowa City Saab, 180/120 miles from here, respectively), I've usually ended up with an older Saab to drive. I recall a week with a NG 900 V6 one time, and an '00 Aero another.
I'm also a Realtor, so I understand that not having a loaner car is NOT an option. FWIW, I find that the 9-5's a fantastic car for doing real estate work in.
