The Nokian WR (mentioned below by LesH) are the only all season tire that gets the European severe condition rating for show use. I suspect that unless you want two sets of tires, that's the best way to go if you expect to drive in serious snow conditions. They are not as good as some of the dedicated winter tires on ice but seem to be darn good in snow from what others have posted on this board. See the "Wish I had a camera" post by cryptical (search on camera to find it).
