There is plenty of good advice on this site, but as is the case with many things in life, there is no such thing as too much of a good thing...like advice for jacking a 9-5 with hydraulic jacks!!! PITA for sure, if not a PITB...so here is my take, having done it twice with my '04 sedan (aka the garage queen).

I started off with two jacks and four jack stands, and ended up needing seven (as in 7) blocks of 2x4 to get the car off the ground with enough clearance. Given the unibody construction, Saab engineers have made it very challenging to use the side jack points with the cheap jack stands I bought...which have a round seat...hence the need for the wood blocks sitting on each of the four stands once the car is airborne.

The front jacking process is sraighforward, with the jack coming in from the center to the round rubber "plug" that I suppose is for towing...there is (on mine, at least) a strip of white tape, thoughtfully placed there by some Troll to make the point even more obvious that you have found the jack point(!!!). I had to place one wood block on the top of the jack to ensure clearance, and then elevated the car a bit (after loosening the lug nuts, of course (d'oh! I forgot to do that the first time! Arg!). Don't go crazy with the lifting yet, as the rear end will be unaccessible.

As opposed to the front, where the jacking point is under the engine, the rear jacking point is right under the rear bumper where the towing hook is. Nevertheless, this required two wood blocks to finally get the wheels off the ground...so it is best to start with some rear jacking, then some front, then some rear, then the front one more time.

Now, bear in mind you have a car in mid-air with only two points for balance, so care needs to be employed as you elevate(as well as a flat surface). I put the jack stands under the notches (see your manual) as the car is raised, remembering to add a wood block on each as the car rises up.

The trick that took me a while to figure out for the Saab (compared to my Volvos and Maxima) had to do with the requirement to use the center jack points and the requirement for the wood blocks. Now that I am properly equipped, there is no problem.
