Kim, I didn't have to remove the heater box. I don't know what your symptoms are, but mine was no heat on the drivers side. Code 08 after hitting Auto and OFF on the ACC. Check out the 9-5 faqs on thesaabsite.com, you'll see "heater box repair". To get to the box: remove three screws holding the cover above the pedals, remove the two screws from the diagnostic port and a little clip above the clutch that you'll probably break. You'll need to unplug and remove the stepping motor (two screws) and the vent elbow(three screws). If the stop is broken it will probably fall on the floor when you remove the cover, you'll need to order a new one of those. After making the repair piece, it all slid into place. Hopefully, this will help.
