I just bought this car from a private seller -- with no extra key/remote. After reading some posts here, I can see that replacing this baby is not cheap. There are two web vendors out there who look like a possibility: Street Keys/Keyless Ride (I think they are really one vendor). Has anyone out there used them? It seems that the dealers charge quite a bit, just for the key/remote hardware, let alone the programming.
BTW, this car still has 6mo. left on the Certified warranty; it has 68k mi. Things that I know were replaced: DI cassette at 50k (are the replacements any better?), crank sensor 64k, and fuel induction service 60k. Are there any other areas to watch out for at this point? The front wheels have huge buildup of dust, and I do hear some slight rubbing/scraping from front left wheel when I brake when car is first started and driven. Also notice some minor tendency to drift to the right, so I would think at very least I am going to need a brake job and front end alignment. Although the tires were all replaced at same time, the outer edges of the fronts have quite a bit of wear (after 25k mi. on Kumho Ecsta Supras -- which I am not familiar with; always have used Pirellis or Michelins on my 91) -- I would have thought the dealer would have rotated these for the previous owner (all the repairs above were done under extended warranty).
Otherwise, this car is a beaut. Too bad I bought it for my wife.
