Left rear clunking noise

Hello all-
I have a 99' 95SE 2.3ltr. Lately I've noticed a thud/clunking noise in the drivers side rear wheel area, but only when I go over bumps (actually seems to be more noticable at slower speeds i.e. parking lot speed bumps). I took my car into a local import service garage and they did a check and said that I need to replace my rear struts, bumps and boots. Also, my right rear upper ball joint.
I then using this information called around a little bit and found a discrepancy. A few other places said that my car has shocks in the back and struts only in the front. They also did not recognize "bumps and boots". Also, they said that there aren't any rear ball joints but that the car has bushings instead.
I tell ya one things for certain...I'm confused to the point of a transcending spin!
Any ideas on how to proceed with this, or suggestions on what may be wrong would make my weekend a great one....
