Blower dies in the blizzard! Posted by CrNiFe [Email] (#408) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CrNiFe) on Sat, 22 Jan 2005 14:26:57 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have read some of the posts on blower issues, but this one seems a bit different.
While waiting for me in the car, my wife said the blower fan just went from high to zero , as in off. The timing was bad, since we are in the middle of a blizzard here in Toronto, and since it is Saturday, both nearby dealers close the service sections early.
We made if home as the frost moved down the windscreen. I did the AUTO and OFF simultaneously to check and recalibrate, and it came us as a 0 (zero). The SID's fan speed indicator was still showing solid sections, and the system was responding to all commands, without the fan.
I left it for a few hours, looked up the fuse for the blower, #22, and just checked it. It was good. I replaced it, and started the car, and the blower is working again, all the way up to top speed.
Your opinions would be gladly received, since it will be a few days before I can take it into the shop. Bad motor, wonky power supply.... any ideas?
Since I was planning to take it in for the 90000 km (50000 mile) service anyway, which I believe is the serpentine belt replacement time, other suggestions related to the short belt swap would be helpful too.
