Reinforcing repaired foglights with zipties/cords?

I read about some people reinforcing repaired/broken foglight brackets (why didn't Saab make these out of METAL) with zipties, etc.
I epoxyed (for the 2nd time) by three brackets back together but I'm sure it's a matter of time before those mounts break. I planned on attempting to create a little cradle behind the light with zipties as I'd read about, but once I got in there I don't really see anything to attach that to. There's two holes on the bottom where the brackets mount to and an open third mount on the left top. Attempting to feel all around in the inside of the bumper for additional mounts I could trace zipties or cords to didn't net any fruit.
So I was wondering if anyone who has done this could provide a bit more detail about exactly what they did. Thanks!
Scott
