I have an '03 Aero, about a week and a half ago I replaced the OEM Pirellis at 26k miles. They were down to the wear bars and I figured that I was pushing my luck with the weather. Made it to mid January here in DC without any snow, but I didn't want to get stuck if we got some. The Pirellis were completely useless the one time I had to drive the car in the snow, I might as well have been driving on four of those round snow sleds.
So as "luck" would have it, I was in Allentown PA this past weekend where we saw about 8" of snow. The good news: these tires make it possible to safely drive my car in the snow. The bad news: going through more than 6" or so, especially at low speeds up any sort of incline, is still a very tricky proposition. The car just gets caught up if the snow is fairly deep, and these all season tires just don't have the grip to pull out of it.
On the semi-plowed roads of the Lehigh valley, the car was just fine. A couple inches of snow and slush were no problem. If you'd like to be able to drive through that, but not a whole lot more, I can recommend these tires.
btw, the tires seem to grip very well in the dry and the noise & comfort is similar to the Pirellis, which I thought were fine. They might be a little less sure-footed than the Pirellis when really tearing ass, but the ultimate grip seems awfully close. At $470 installed ($395 delivered from Tirerack, $75 for mount and balance at Viking Automotive in Gaithersburg) these tires seem to be a hell of a good deal. I was also looking at the Pirelli Neros and the ContiExtreme contacts, but saw enough good words about the Kumhos to give them a shot.
