That seems like awfully low mileage for the plugs to fail. If your driving is mostly very short trips with the engine never fully warming up, I would make a point of getting the car out on the highway every now and then and giving it a little exercise to burn off any deposits on the plugs. Also, I think your model calls for either the NGK PFR6H10 or PFR7H10 plugs. The PFR6H10 are hotter running and sound like the ones you should be using if your car is not seeing a lot of high speed use.
