Not a DIY repair...

Pardon the personal question, but what is your deductible? If you think that paying your deductible - plus the $ increase in insurance premiums over the next 3 years - will add up to less than $1800.... then it's worth it!
Like Tom said, I think it is safe to say that your rate will increase somewhere between 20-40% if you go through your insurance co. I think insurance companies can only use that data for 3 years.
Honestly I'd say it's worth it to report the accident to your insurance co. if only for the fact that you know the work will be done professionally, and the numerous hours saved by not DIYing the job.
Regardless of what route you choose to take with the insurance company, I'd say this is not a DIY job anyway.
