Oil Change ... Am I missing something?

I went to change the oil in my 2001 SE wagon this weekend. Should be a simple task, right? Apperently not. I cannot get the drain plug to budge. What am I missing? I'm just using a regular socket wrench, which should be more than enough. I thought about using a breaker bar, but I'm worried about stripping the plug, or worse, the drain hole. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
