Another cause of stress to the ignition switch is its proximity to the catalytic converter. If the heat shield deteriorates, the ignition wiring will soon be toasted.
Checking the battery ground, alternator ground, rear taillight ground, and voltage regulator brushes are still a good idea whether or not they are causing problems right now.
