Just need a little consolation here. Head gasket failed on my '94T-conv. almost two weeks ago in dramatic fashion. Girlfriend drives it to class and calls me from parking lot to tell me the car is not running right(ha, ha).
I ask "what's it doing?"
"It is smoking from the hood and out of the tailpipe", she replies.
"What color is the smoke?" I ask.
"It's white and smells bad"
"That's not smoke, that's steam sweetheart"
And with that my heart sank and our account became lighter.
Anyway, picked up the car yesterday morning and it ran well. But...trusted mechanic tells me that there is alot of corrosion on the head as well as the block(Oh, No!) He assures me that it will be ok, they fixed it as well as it could be. Well, I've only had this car about a year, so it must have been seeping since the day I drove it home. Great!
Today I find about 3/4 quart of oil on the ground underneath her and a mess on the block. Must be a loose turbo line the mechanic tells me. Back to the shop tomorrow. The shop is however 30 miles away in Boston traffic.(Argghhh!) I trust the mechanic(He is Jeff & Royce's mechanic), but....sometimes these cars really try my patience.
To top it off, I think the head gasket on my '90 is seeping. This would be expected except for the fact that it was already replaced at the beginning of the year! Not by the same mechanic though.
Sorry so long and with really no point, just venting a bit. Thanks. I'm off to dump a quart of oil in the '94 and drive home.
Someone tell me it's worth it, please.
Todd
