Alarm System - 1991 Convertible

Hi,
When I bought this car a few weeks ago, the factory alarm was working properly. However, it was auto-arming and driving me crazy when I was trying to work on or clean the car.
I pressed the "Valet" button under the passenger seat so that it would quit auto-arming while I worked on it, but now it will not go out of Valet mode. What do I need to do? I've tried pressing the valet button, tried the "plipper" remote, tried locking/unlocking the car several times, and it's been driven several times since, but it's still in Valet mode.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Gavin
