As Vince said, that would have been me, and yeah, the project is on hold. It was taking a lot of time to prepare them, and I don't have that kinda time right now, or the money for that matter. :)
If it helps, we made them from plastic - some stuff called Trans-lite. It's normally used to produce back-lit signs, but we used it because it's resistant to fading and almost immune to heat distortion - I figured with two illumination bulbs on it at all times, there was potential for it to get very hot. They were printed on an Iris somethingorother, which is an $80k industrial dye printer. The dye is resistant to fading supposedly for up to 10 years or more depending on exposure. After printing, there were coated in Krylon, and backed with some thick appliance paint to prevent light from showing through - the translite is pretty thin.
We got the originals by scanning factory gauge faces on a hi-res drum scanner, then cleaning them up, scaling them, and re-coloring them in Photoshop. It's pretty time consuming, but you've only gotta do it once. They were mastered for the Iris, or I'd be happy to share them so others could try.
