If snow covered roads were perfectly flat, and with no curves, s-bars would not matter.
When toughing up a bumpy snowy hill, stiff bars will increase unloading of one drive wheel when any single wheel rides over a mound. The unloaded wheel will more readily lose traction. Ideal for this situation, w/o lsd or traction control, is soft springs and no bars. 'Mound' will have minimal change in wheel loading.
Also, big bar on rear will help turn-in on dry roads, but will encourage the rear to come about in the snow on snow covered turns.
OEM bars have rubber bushings to maintain some independent suspension travel before bars get loaded.
Ever install those hi-po SACH's front shocks?
