Last month i rehabed a 1986 900S for someone to use as a winter unit and save their 1999 93.Their was a list of problems to resolve, but what i learned was the grounds attached to the cylinder head lifting strap were in poor shape-redid then by cleaning the corrosion off with a mild acid wash and then soldered them to the terminal lugs. Fixed alot of problems but then 2days later developed a high idle-traced it to bad corrosion on the two tabs in the temperature sendor for the ECU mounted in the center of the intake manifold(blue top)Bosch #0 280 130 026 between runners for cylinder #2+3 .Replaced the sender unit but then used acid wash on the terminals in the unit and then used a needle nose pliers and twisted each tab app. 5 degrees from a straight line they were in with each other.Old unit now works again. This causes the tabs to have more preasure applied by the terminals in the plug cap.Alot of engine problems develop over time due to poor connections or corrosion on the terminals of various sender units in the Bosch connectors. By the way the owner now likes the 1986 900S(190,000 miles) better than the 1999 93 it has more torque down low and now requires less shifting on hills than the turbo 93.
