There are two possible sources of a leak in that area - the main seal, or the oil pump O-ring.
The crankshaft comes out of the engine, right through the middle of the oil pump. The oil pump mounts to the timing chain cover with an O-ring. Where the crankshaft comes out the oil pump is the main seal. The leak can be at either place, but if you're going to replace the main seal, you may as well do them both.
Check the townsend site (http://www.townsendimports.com) for information and directions. Basically, you need to remove the belts, then get the main pulley off. This is a little tricky on the 900 because the pulley is low and faces the firewall. Once you get the main bolt holding the pulley off (townsend has some nice tricks), you pull off the pulley (usually comes easily). Replacing the main seal at this point is a few minutes work, but you're better off pulling the oil pump (about 10 bolts, no biggie), and replacing the O-ring. Put the oil pump back on, stick in a new main seal, and installation is the reverse of removal.
Assume an afternoon if you have a garage.
