If it looks clean, perhaps it was changed when it was last worked on, as you mentioned. Given that it's not a turbo, is shifting well, the oil looks clean, and many a saab has racked up huge miles on original trans oil, I'd leave it alone. Not to sound alarmist, but there is risk in disrupting the mojo in a saab trans - sometimes it's best to let a good thing keep going, you know?
My '85 900S had original fluid in it at 112k because it's former mechanic said not to bother with it. At 168k, the oil looked awful and clearly had gunk suspended in it. I changed it (after much flushing) and the result is mixed 8k later. I would like to think that clean MTL is better, longevity wise, than 15 yr old 10W30 with crap floating in it, but the shifting in 2nd is now iffy and 3rd is sometimes clunky. With the old fluid, it shifted fine if a little stiff when cold.
Based on what people say here (and as unscientific as it sounds), I really think these trans "break in" and "become accustomed to" the lubricant they started with.
