Get your hands on a volt/ohmmeter tester in order to test the cables for resistance. Using the ohms scale of the tester put one of the test leads at each end of the cable and check the resistance. When you are doing this you should also wiggle the wire to check if the resistance varies much when doing this - this could indicate a break in the wire. Generally I believe that the wires should not give an ohm reading of much more than 5,000 ohms, but you should probably check a Bently or Haynes manual for the exact resistance specification of ignition wires for a 900.
