Kind of a funny story, there. Two summers ago I did some extensive renovations and mods to my garage -- a week-long building project that involved installing cabinets, a workbench, a hands-free faucet for the deepsink, pegboards on the walls for tools, various garden tool racks, etc. I'd taken two weeks of leave from work and decided to dedicate one of them to fixing up my garage.
At the end of the week, one of my buddies was surveying my accomplishment in admiration. I remarked I wanted to paint the floor for the next summer's project... one of those grey sealant coatings as are used in some aircraft hangars. He jokingly replied, "Maybe you should go with black and white marble like the Taj Mahal!"
...to which I responded, "You mean the GARAGE Mahal!" We laughed for several minutes, but it's been called that ever since.
I never did the marble floor thing (or put reflecting pools out front!) but someone sent me a comic strip this year wherein the comic character mentions his own "garage mahal." Somehow, the name is catching on with the general public. I'm curious if anyone else used it before the summer of '98, or if I started this?
Good luck with your water pump, Peter. Let us all know how it goes.
