holding dead center on hi-way suggests t-stat is the std 87C, and radiator is not very bad. Like Ari said, switch to 82C t-stat is prefered. Gage will cruise about 40% up.
gage is linear, so normal for it to rise in traffic, up to 2/3 or 3/4, where fan kicks in. this is about 200-210F, not really hot as most think.
with the M90+ non-turbos, only one fan comes on for cooling. For better summer cooling, modify for both to come on, if not already done. see townsendimports.com .... 'documents'
you do not have a fan switch problem.
