I painted & installed a set myself a few months back. Highly recommend SEM charcoal metallic bumper coater (#39273), about $9/spray can. It's a metallic & great match to spg panels, flows great & is tough. Most car parts & auto body suppliers can order it for you. SEM'll give you dealers close by if you call them. http://www.semproducts.com (don't forget to wet sand the surface a bit with 600 grit or sim.)
On thing to watch though. The set I bought this fall (new in the box) was a more brittle plastic (abs, I assume) than some others I've seen. When I carefully tightened the front screws, I got hairline cracks, which I ended up reinforcing by sanding & epoxying stainless washers behind the holes, then painting. It's very easy to overtighten & bend the covers in. I also cut stiff rubber hose to length & inserted into two rear screws. This tends to remove any overstress & looks better than an exposed screw. If you want, you can add a mm or so to leave a slight gap between cover bottom & 1/4 panel to drain off water, although I just suspect that might be a problem.
I posted the cracking problem before & no one else seemed to have experienced this - so I inspected another turbo w/covers & noticed that the screws were way overtight, pulling in the cover but it hadn't cracked. Flexing the cover by finger, it definitely was more flexible than the new covers I had.
So, be warned! & good luck.
