I believe that Intrax makes the highest-quality lowering spring for the classic 900. They are available from many of the saabnet sponsors. The only rubbing problems I've heard of were from people trying to fit some larger 16" tires in or even shoehorning 17" wheels in there.
I've got a set of Jamex sportsprings (1.75" drop) and have never had any rubbing with my 195/60-15 summer tires or my 185/65-15 winter tires. I don't believe that Jamex products are available in the US (or anywhere else?) anymore.
I can't recommend Koni shocks enough. I am thoroughly satisfied with them. The car handles like a go-cart, but the suspension is still compliant. Another option would be Biltstein shocks- I've never tried them, but they get good reviews from others on this BB.
