The potentiometer on the left hand side of the gages can be a problem. I do not know what the resistance of the element is, but I am sure a cheap one can be purchased at Radio Shak if this is what is absolutely necessary. I feel that the front lit gages are poorly lit at best and I do not ever need to turn the level down. I just connected the 2 wires together on my '89 which had an intermittent pot. This is exactly like having it set on full brightness all the time.
