Hi Folks,
As a follow up on my Potential Hotspot post of a few days ago, I am now posting another photo (thanks again to Dana for the scan). On the photo which should appear below you will see the location of the wiring harness connector indicated in white letters and the silver exhaust routing tube on the left side of the photo running top to bottom. You should check the end of the exhaust routing tube which is on the near side of the photo in the lower left cornter where it is attached to a plastic right angle piece. That plastic bit breaks down over time allowing hot exhaust fumes to melt the insulation in the wiring harness. If you remove the rubber bellows that attaches to the intake manifold this is all much easier to see and work on. What I did was to use pliars to bend the silver flexible exhaust routing tube into a right angle at its end and eliminate the right angle piece entirely. Now it will be attached directly to a squarish box which connects to the air filter cylinder.

Now I end with a question. In the photo you can see two vacuum hoses attached to the intake manifold at a point that is concealed by the angled cold start valve. One is routed across the front of the engine towards the distributor cap. The other is routed down towards the air filter in the lower left corner of the picture. My question is where does this second hose connect? I can't seem to recall where it goes.

Finally, here is something bizarre. My car won't start when it is parked in a moist underground garage, but it starts first try out in the cold. Is that related to the vacuum hose being disconnected or something else perhaps? Thanks again for your comments!
