Erratic Idle : This IS the end !!

Well, well..... got a posting yesterday from G. Ellis and he told me that a friend of his had the same idle problems and that the reason was bad alignment of the camshafts. I must admit this was my first idea after I bought the car but as otherwise it ran great and had lots of power I forgot about it. Anyway, I couldn't imagine a car with bad aligned camshafts could only have idle problems. Well, I was wrong and Glenn was right!!
I was so excited about it, so I took a day off and checked.... and fixed because the admission camshaft was one tooth early (so thats why the timing was at 25° when I bought it)!!!! The explanations from Glenn and the site of T. Townsend helped a lot because I think that (although having some 20 years of experience as an amateur mechanic) I could have made the same mistake. In fact, with the camshafts correctly aligned, the marks are not 100% aligned. T. Townsend uses the marks on the front of the sprockets and checks that their position is perpendicular to the head and Glenn told me there have to be 15 pins between the marks of the 2 camshafts.
Anyway, pulling the belts off the alternator was the hardest part and my idle is now absolutely perfect and my vacuum at 0,7 bar!!!
I listened to that idle at least for 10 minutes.... great!
So there's only one thing left to say :
Thanks to all of you, thanks for your postings and patience. This board is great, even if your'e not in trouble.
Special thanks to Glenn and Tom !!!!
Today is a wonderful day....
Alain
