With any luck, you may be able to fix the problem by lubricating the cable. You can get to it by removing the left dash speaker. Unscrew the 2 #10torx screws and lift rear edge of speaker grill, pull back and rest eh speaker on the dash. No need to unplug speaker wires. Then look through the windshield and you will see the speedo cable and where it plugs into the speedo. Use a mirror or a helper to direct your hands and you can unplug the cable plug easily. Then you can lubricate the cable by squirting some oil down the cable. Some people have pulled the center cable wire out of the surrounding cable sheath to lube the whole thing, but I was able to stop the noise by letting the oil slowly drip down the cable a little at a time.
If this doesn't do the trick, you have to remove the instrument cluster, and replace the speedo or have it rebuilt. Before you do this, i'd recommend a Bentley manual, which explains how to do it in detail. Basically you have to take out the console and knee bolster, and steering wheel. Then you can remove the four long (location specific) screws that hold the whole panel in and pull out the panel. Take your time and label or write down where the wires/harness connectors go. Then you can get at the instrument cluster and speedometer to replace or send out to a rebuilder. Hemmings lists many shops that rebuild speedometers and I'll bet you can get a used one from sobstory.com for a reasonable price.
