firstly, remove your ashtray housing. a large bolt behind that needs to be removed. secondly, open your hood. two bolts, one on each side of the pad need to be removed. each bolt is located on the firewall side of the door hinge outside of the engine compartment. on the driver side it is the area just behind the fuse box. you will need to clear away some wire harnesses to view and have access to it. you will also need to remove the center console so that the bolster can drop down. once all the bolts are removed the bolster slides up and out of the tongue and groove harness.
you may just want to lie on your back and work from underneath instead of going through all the hassle of removing it. hope this helps.
