Could something have something frozen in it? If so try lock de-icer.
Also if your transmission lock is not working correctly it is possible that you could have removed the key without the car in reverse. If you then put the car into reverse or another gear (after the key is out) you might not be able to get the key back in again. If you think this is the case and the gear shifter isn't locked into place put it back into neutral (or whatever gear it was when you removed it) and try again. The key is only supposed to come out when the car is in reverse and then the shifter is supposed to lock but I have seen cases where you can get it out in neutral and it can be very tricky to get it back in again after you put it into another gear. The key seems to be to put it back into the gear you where in when your removed it.
