I have an '86 900t that does the same thing. In fact just this week my brake light came on and sure enough I was very low on hydraulic fluid. It turns out I have a leak just at the firewall. I don't know why it works that way, maybe like other Saabisms it springs from a safety mindset like their reason for having the ignition between the seats.
The reservoir has a sub-reservoir in the cap which contains the sensor and the inerteia causes the fluid to move setting off the light. I don't have the slightest idea why the parking brake light comes on. I always thought that light had its mechanical switch at the brake lever.
I have one more anomaly to add to this topic hoping someone can answer. On my '92 turbo conv. I noticed that on some cold nights (about <= 45 deg ) when I start the car my usual lights come on for a few sec. as the computer goes through it self diagnostics ie. SRS,ABS,etc. The brake light stays on well after the other lights have gone out and it actually lights up my parking brake light to the same intensity even though I've disengaed the parking brake. When I put the parking brake on both lights brighten to full intensity. I pump the brakes to see if its a matter of pressurizing the ABS accumulator and it only changes the intensity of the lights from half to full. After about a minute both lights will fade out. strangest thing I've ever seen.
I'm sorry I can't be of much help but as you can see you're not alone and any insight anyone can provide will be much appreciated.
