stick to other parts and come out. you ever put one of those things in? with the starter plate and the oil pump off, you can put them in with a block of wood and rubber mallet. but they take some serious, careful persuasion. i just find it hard to believe it would just slide out. since the main pulley is what mates with it, and it extends into the oil pump housing, it could feasibly still move oil through the engine. albeit at a lower pressure. that is, if the seal is on the suction side of the pump. don't remember... just did one about three weeks ago on project engine. just my 2 cents.
