I found that a standard (fairly short) socket with a breaker bar (Craftsman) worked without needing to cut the socket down. You'll need to lock the flywheel by inserting a prybar or equivalent tool up through the hole in the bottom of the flywheel housing. There's also a special flywheel locking tool illustrated in the Bentley manual that can be used.
