Boge shocks go to HELL!!

I am so sick of Boge shocks!
First, I bought two shocks for the front and tried(ha!) to install them myself. The top of the shock would not tighten down because it keep spinning when I put a socket to it. The top of the stud/bolt is a 2sided 6mm fitting which on the drivers side is impossible to get 2 wrenches on. IF you have seen the Boge design then you know what I am talking about. So after much initial frustration I gave up and took the car to a saab mechanic. And guess what? He tried to use an air impact wrench but that did not work! So he got out a 17mm crowfoot wrench and then some how he grabed the top of the shock and tightened it.
SECOND, 40,000 miles later the driver's side shock does not dampen at all. So, I think to my self that I could just buy a 17mm crowfoot and tighten the damn shock myself. I can get the crowfoot in just fine but I have had a hell of a time with the damn 2-sided 6mm stud/both. So I bent a small 6 mm wrench to fit down the narrow passage and not get in the way of the crow foot. The only problem is that with the crowfoot I cant get very much force with the damn crowfoot and I dont want to remove the alternator and brake master cylynder just so I can get a wrench on the damn thing. So, now I guess I will try the two bolt method but I dont see how this will help because I cant get that much tightening torque on the crowfoot wrench.
Anyone get any suggestions besides going back to the mechanic?
Thanks
Phil
