Ok, I promised to write back to the BB with instructions IF I was able to get my cruise working. Well, here goes... I pried open the can with a screwdriver and slid out the board by the connector. Don't worry, It can only go back together one way. You will notice that the bottom of the board is coated with red goo. I removed this with 'PVC pipe Cleaner'. It is acetone with MEK and comes with a little applicator. Rub with applicator, toothpicks, and cotton swabs until the red goo is all gone. This is time consuming. Once it is clean, look carefully for bad/cold solder joints. I found 3 suspect ones on my unit. I heated these up and used a solder sucker to cleaned away the old solder from the suspicious joints. I re-soldered the joints making sure it is a good joint with enough heat and the proper amount of solder. Use a 25 Watt pencil iron preferrably temperature controlled (but not absolutely required). Do not use a torch type or pistol grip soldering iron as this is too much heat! I recently drove it and it seems to be fine. I cannot cause it to interrupt or not function even when deflecting the board. I think I got it. While it is apart, It is also good to use a bit of contact cleaner on the relay contacts (near the connector) and slide a bit of copy paper between the contacts to clean them. Hang the lower dash panel back on and leave the connector hanging out and drive around with the unit hanging down by your left leg to make sure it works. YMMV
