All 4x10's are junk in my book. After selling several brands, nothing sounds good. I would add 6x9's with the proper adapters which will sound a lot better then any 4x10's.
Another way is to add a small 4 channel amp with internal x-over. Along with that, add a pair of 6.5's under your front seats. Adjust the x-over to 200 hz & below & you will have better bass/midbass then the best 6x9's would in the back. I did thius setup because I needed hatch space for a trip to key west a while back. So I removed the Rockford 12's & used a pair of polk audio 6.5's I had laying around. The sound was 10x better then using the rockford subs & at that time, the rockford subs were their best model :o)
So, if you don't want to play the stereo extremely loud & have $200-300 to spend, I would go with 6.5's & a 4 channel amp. Then, later on if you are able to add a larger sub, the 6.5's work very well as mid-bass drivers :o)
or up to $200 for a set of 6x9's with the adapters.
