Easy enough to do...cock the front wheels to lock and see if there's a swaybar there.
Rears, just look under the rear of the car.
IMHO, a swaybar replacement is the first thing to do rather than dropping the car. Shocks are a nobrainer...should be replaced and I would go with the bilsteins. KYBs worked ok for me for about 20K miles but then the rebound damping went but the compression damping was too stiff to begin with. KYB Gas-A-Just were what I had and I didn't like them, others seem to have better luck with the basic KYB shock.
I'm currently using Tokicos (I think) which are a nice compromise.
Used Bilsteins once a long time ago on my 84 900T and they were stiff too, both in compression and rebound; enough to wear out the supplied Bilstein upper front shock doughnuts quickly---my advice is stick with the stock Saab upper shock doughnuts and replace them every 20-40K or with new shocks.
Don't forget to check ball joints when unloaded...if you have OEM shocks you've likely bashed the balljoints real good and a lot of squirrely Saabs can be attributed to bad ball joints.
