Jesus).
Some of you were good enough to try to help me find the annoying noise coming from in front of my feet (91 900S) so I thought I'd share the info.
Just to update everyone I replaced the shock mounts and sway bar bushings with no change in the noise so my next plan was to pull the left front shock out and drive it to see if that made a difference. YES! silence. I then took the shock to the bench to do an autopsy. What I found (after carefully clamping the shock in the vice so the "DO NOT OPEN" placard was facing away from me, then drilling a little hole in the shock to relieve the gas pressure), was that the nut that holds the piston to the stanchion was loose. This is impossible to get at without destroying the shock of course. I was surprised that this could produce such a significant noise while driving.
Anyway, I hope this may be of some use to someone out there with a similar problem.
