I have a non turbo 92 900S 5sp, and have had good luck (three times now at 156,000 miles) with a VW specialist purchase of a three wire Bosch O2 sensor speced for a Ford Taurus SHO @ about $60. I'm told they can be had for less, but it beats the dealers $189.00 plus O2 sensor, so I'm not upset. You will have to splice the harness; I used butt connectors, was told NOT to solder the connections from a Volvo expert that used the same deal. Resistance (a measurement of the flow of electrons thats beyond me) is the key; keep the lentgh of the harness to the same as stock. I have found that a fresh O2 sensor and periodic replacement of the inexpensive cap and rotor, again, VW spec parts, are the key to smooth running. SAABS seem to be very sensitive to spark. At 156,000, I still get 31+ on pure highway and 25 around town. When it gets cranky I just do the cap, rotor and new Bosch 3 wire Palladiums, then I pay attention about a year later. Cheap at about $60 all in excluding the O2 sensor.

And check the air pressure on your tires. I'm running 31 all around on Michelin MXV Greens. Mostly highway miles. everyone forgets the effect of tire pressure on mileage.

Hey hi, to modestmouse! thanks for the tip a few months ago on the failed power windows! You were soooooooo right!

Good luck !!!
