I plan on coverting my tired auto to a 5speed, I am driving a 90 900turbo convertable. I am a mechanic and I work at a local Ford dealer. I have the opportunity to pick up a traded in 85 900turbo with a 5speed for $100. I drove the car and it shifted great and I heard no noises. The car has 150,000miles on it and I have no history. My question is will this trans be alright in my car? I know newer ones are better, but would like an opinion because I am having trouble finding a good used one. If I buy this one I will have all the stuff for the conversion. I also have the opportunity to buy a used non turbo trans that is already out for $400 but is newer, not sure what year. Has about 100,000miles on it, and who knows if it makes any noise, plus it wasn't out of a turbo. Is there any difference between the two non turbo and turbo. Would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Thanks in advance
