POP......and now she won't start.......shorted wires(more)help! Posted by Ken [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I just got a 87' 900s turbo (137k) from my sister. She just had it repaired. I'm new to the Saab world and need some help. I'm mechanicaly capable. I had to jump the car the other day and that went fine. I noticed the wires comming out of the side of the distributor were right up against the plug wires comming of the cap. I moved the wires and the car died. It turned out that one of the three wires grounded out with the distributors metal housing. The car will not start now. If the wires are moved and the ignition is on and one of the 3 wires going into the distributor, I can hear a relay click.
Questions
Did I damage the control unit when this wire grouded?
Did I damage the coil?
Is there a fuse for the ignition system?
Do I have a hall transmitter in the distributor and did it get killed?
I just bought the Hayes book hours ago and plan on trouble shooting the problem. So anything you can point me too will help. I have a digital multi-meter to run some checks.
This was ment to be a project car, to work on stuff like the headliner and seats not the mechanical parts. ;)
