I have also found the Beck Arnley clutch disk to be too thick. I installed one my a 1990 900s and experienced many gear grinds until the disk worked it's way in. The magnetic drain plug showed very little metal debris, so I figure / hope it little or no damage. I have done many clutch jobs on Saabs from 1974 99's to mid 90's 900's, this clutch has been the most dificult. It may be the disk / pressure plate combination, regardless I will never buy a clutch kit from a non qualified aftermarket supplier again. I use a piece of wood (oak) between the flywheel gears and the transmission housing instead of a screwdriver. I don't trust metal to metal contact when removing flywheel bolts, I would hate to break a tooth.
