The leather has metal coat hanger type of wires in the seams. There's one in the big U shaped seam of the leather in the bottom seat. That stiff wire eventually breaks the heater wires since it runs across the wires that jump from the center area pad to the outer one. Those wires don't have extra slack in them to allow them to give a little. I took mine apart and soldered the wires back together. It's easy to verify with a multimeter at the heater connector. If you get a no continuity reading there's a broken wire in the heating pad. You can disconnect the connector to the heater pad in the seat back to isolate the problem.
