Doesn't sound too bad, especially if he rebuilt the transmission. Get one with a new transmission and you're way ahead of the game. Throw in the head gasket, timing chain and all that other stuff and it COULD be a good deal. If your from me and you come from the rust belt, is sure is nice to find a rust-free car, and that adds to its value too. I'm just concerned that you say he races Saabs, that could be interpreted to mean that he also beats the living S&%@t out of his daily drivers too. Remember that people on this board have had tranny's go bad after just 5,000 miles with heavy use. Just something too consider. If the body is really rust free, paint looks nice, the interior is really nice and everything works (a/c, power windows, cruise, heated seats, etc.), I would go as high as $2,500 if it isn't beat on. Obviously the nicer the body and interior is the more its worth, and vice versa. An average car is down around $800 - $1,500.
